UFree Network strongly condemns the Israeli systematic and deliberate targeting of its partner organisation in Palestine 48 Yousef Al-Sedeeq institute for prisoners' protection and its staff for advocating hunger striker Mohamed al-Qeeq.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli police detained head of Yousef Al-Sedeeq institute, Feras al-Omari, after breaking into the institute’s office in Umm al-Fahem city.
The Oslo based network considered the Israeli decision to close Yousef Al-Sedeeq offices as a part of Israeli discrimination policy against Palestinians in 1948 occupied Palestine.
The network described the decision as a political decision that aims to suppress Palestinian voices who defend Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails and detention centres.
UFree Network also condemned the arrest of Sheikh Raed Salah from Afula hospital after he declared an open-ended hunger strike in solidarity with Mohamed al-Qeeq.
Muhammad al-Qeeq, a 33-year-old father of two, has refused food since Nov. 25, 2015 to protest his detention without charge or trial by Israel.
A total of 650 Palestinians including 16 journalists are held in Israeli administrative detention without charge or trial in total violation to the international law.
